Duties: Designing Pavements for Iranian highway construction projects


• "Evaluating the behavior of the gap filler at the stations located in the curve, construction and monitoring the pilot sample", sponsored by Tabriz Urban Railway Organization (TURO), 2014.
In this research, a practical solution for principal problems of metro stations located in the curve is presented. The main issue is about safety of passengers, because of existing gap between curved platform and straight edge of the wagon. Therefore, it is possible that the legs of the passengers fall down inside the cavity during the pedestrian and boarding. With construction and installation of proposed gap fillers, the safety will be achieved while there is no concern for safety of train to move.

• "Evaluation of the recycled rubber crumb as a vibration absorption layer on in-city railways", sponsored by Tabriz Urban Railway Organization (TURO), 2014.
One of the principal problems in operation of metro systems is the vibration propagation of train movements. For this issue, there are different classes of solutions, the basic one, is elastic ant vibration mats. In this research, the use of recycled rubber crumbs for anticipating the level of transformed vibrations is evaluated both experimentally and numerically. Finally, the optimized class of ant vibration mats is executed in a pilot sample and instrumentation for field measurement of the data is done

• “Maintenance and Rehabilitation of Mashad City Pavements” Sponsored by Mashad Municipality, 2013.

In this project a pavement management system was developed for the Municipality of Mashads Using the results of this project, engineers were able to plan the maintenance strategy of pavements.

• “Maintenance and Rehabilitation of Qazvin City Pavements” Sponsored by Qazvin Municipality, 2007.


• “Development of Pavement Management System Framework for the Iran Highway Networks” Sponsored by Iranian Transportation Research Institute, 2004.

The national framework of pavement management systems of Iran was the result of this project. The project outcome included: single year programming, multi year programming, data collection protocols.


• “Evaluation of Using Geosynthetics Effects on Pavement in order to Reduce the Overlay Thickness and Preventing Crack Initiation” Sponsored by Iran Transportation Research Institute, 2003.

Using fracture mechanics theory and finite element analysis, effects of crack width, elastic modulus of overlay, existing pavement and subgrade were taken into account. effect of geosynthetic on retarding crack propagation into overlay was analysed.


• “Concrete Block Paving Design and Construction in Road, Ports and Airport Pavements Guidelines” Sponsored by Iran Transportation Research Institute, 2000.

Based on finite element analysis results and available failure model,a comprehensive series of design charts were developed for highway,airport and industrial pavements considering; subgrade and pavement layers properties as well as tire pressure and number of repetitive loads.

• “Slab Track Railway Design and Construction Codes” Sponsored by Iran Railway Research Center, 1999.

In this project based on numerical analysis, a comprehensive series of design charts were developed. Using these charts, the designer is able to determine the thickness of a slab under various rail load repetitions and subgrade bearing capacity.
